About the venue We are proud to announce that we havenot only won Best Local Pub 2011 in the Taste of Dorset Awards. We have now been voted as Dorsets Best Country Pub & Mark as Dorsets Best Chef by Dorset Magazine. Also our butcher Simon Harvell won Best Butcher in both Awards as well.

The Telegraph & Famous Grouse have just put us at No.8 their Top 100 Famous Pubs.

Mark & Emily Hammick were somewhat coerced in to buying The Gaggle of Geese by some of the locals. We bought the pub at the end of June 2008 and opened on the 31st of July to a pub packed full of villagers, friends and lots of our European Inn customers. With the Gaggle being such a large pub we decided to put some sofas in front of the fire so customers could relax and just have a drink or eat in the dining room if they preferred.

Being local farmers as well as publicans we have decided to concentrate on good traceable local produce where possible. With Dorset having such an abundance of wonderful produce this has proved an easy task. The Gaggle now provides proper modern pub food in old fashioned surroundings.

If you can't be bothered to cook, but don't want to drive into Dorchester or Sherborne we offer a takeaway service everyday for fish & chips and burger & chips.

Menu highlights

• Everything on our menu we make ourselves and as much of it is as locally sourced and seasonal as possible.
• Parts of our menu change daily according to what produce is available
• At lunchtimes we also offer sandwiches and ploughmans.
• Sunday lunches always include two roasts and we serve lunch on Sunday's until 3pm.
